You’ve made the decision to get a piercing and you are finally ready to make an appointment. But when is the perfect time to get pierced? What are the seasonal pros and cons to consider before going through with a piercing?
After your piercing, you are can expect a 25-60% chance of slight swelling within 72 hours. Circulation will increase and blood will rush to the area. Inflammation is a healthy body reaction and a response to the treatment even though it is not as fun as your piercing will be once it’s healed!
Areas that tend to have good blood flow such as earlobes, lips, nose and even nipples may experience up to 60% chance of swelling and no areas will swell equally. With the possibility of swelling in mind, we advise that you accept the size of the jewellery as recommended by your piercer. It is not advised to use jewellery that is too long as they tend to get caught in your clothes, hair and who knows what else. Also, jewellery that is too short should be avoided as the jewellery may get “swallowed up” by any swelling.
